Skills
Athletes must be able to ride a bike for distances of 10-50 or so miles in one day (rides are generally in the 15-35 mile range on the Cross County Trail and the C&O Trail and longer on the W&OD.)
Our rides are “loop rides”, which means that an athlete and parent/guardian may turn around at any point and go back to the start if they are not able to complete the entire distance with the group.
New Riders-A parent or sibling must go along on the rides until it has been determined that the athlete has the skills needed to ride independently
(follows rules of the road for safety while riding in a group.)
Sometimes our rides include sharing the roadways with cars, so we need to make sure that athletes are able to ride safely in traffic.
