Basketball
Basketball is a favorite sport among our athletes. Players take it up at all ages and at all abilities, from young players learning to handle the ball to older, more experienced players who have the moves and know the strategies to play challenging ball.
Basketball is the largest sport in Area 26, and one of the largest in Virginia.
Our season runs from November to the end of March, and we have several tournaments, beginning in January, and culminating in our own separate State Championships
Note: COVID19 Waiver and either proof of COVID19 vaccination or weekly testing are required for all participants. Athletes must also have current medical forms on file.
Coordinator: Elaine Tilton

Special Olympics Basketball Rules
Many of the rules for Basketball in Special Olympics are the same as High School (VHSL) and College, but there ARE some differences. Teams consist of up to 10 players at the Regional and State level of play. Area 26 allows 12 on a roster for local tournaments and practices. Click the box for the Rules manual.

Hayfield Clinic
A brand new program was introduced this year by the wonderful Hayfield Secondary School. They hosted a clinic for our BBall teams (similar to the Paul VI effort which takes place in February), which focused skills and drills on each player's level of play. This new program will be a GREAT annual addition to the Area Basketball Program.
Many thanks to the Hayfield Secondary Coaches, Casey Quigley. and their Boys and Girls Varsity Teams.
