Currently we have two competitions in our season. In late September we participate in the Special Olympics Fall Extravaganza in Shenandoah, and we compete at the Fall State Games in Virginia Beach.

Season: Fall (August to Early November)
Practice site: Cassel's Volleyball, Herndon.
Skill level and equipment: Athletes must be able to stand, raise their arms and move around the court in play.
Our program is starting its fourth season (second with multiple teams participating). The teams play in the Fall and are made up of a maximum of 12 players, six of whom are on the court at a time. There are two local divisions in our Area: Traditional (the Warhawks) and Modified (the Nighthawks). Our teams have advanced to the Fall State Games in Virginia Beach and won Gold or Silver at each tournament. The sport is great fun and great exercise.
Volleyball is a fall sport and runs for a minimum of eight weeks.
The program includes training for individual skills competition to develop basic volleyball skills. The development of these key skills is necessary prior to advancing to team competition. Skills include volleying, serving and passing.
Team Skill Levels
Area 26 currently has two levels competing in the sport:
Basic skills: Our Nighthawks team competes in a modified structure that enhances basic learning and understanding of the game
Advanced: Our Warhawks team plays by standard (traditional) volleyball rules and is for those who have a sound understanding of serving (overhand preferred), passing and net play.
